2019 Haiti Transit 1

Opportunity Overview

Transit teams have a specific dual focus while in Haiti. The team will experience a highly relational mission, playing with children of all ages and implementing the Discovery Kids curriculum, which involves stories from the Bible, games, songs, and crafts - all focused around a virtue. You’ll visit Haitians in their homes and pray for each other. During the trip, there is also a huge focus on the parent/child relationship. You will walk away from this trip more connected to your parent or child through this unique experience of serving together.

Middle school students are hyper-aware of their surroundings and culture. While this natural focus helps them develop their definition of the adults they are becoming, it causes many people to accuse them of being “selfish” or “living in a bubble.” Therefore, we encourage parents to take their middle schoolers on a different type of adventure after they finish 7th grade: a mission trip. It is eye-opening for students to see people living in different cultural contexts, dealing with different sets of challenges. We believe that giving parents and students an opportunity to serve together is the most powerful way for them to grow and discover a faith of their own.

We are looking for a team of 26 made up of parent/student pairs. Students must be involved in Transit, and currently in 7th grade (2018-2019 school year).

**Note that the cost of the trip listed is the cost PER PERSON.
