2026 El Salvador - Counseling
About the Journey
Be part of the meaningful work of restoring and reunifying families in El Salvador as you connect with, support, and train the counseling staff at La Casa de mi Padre.
With three family homes on their La Finca farm just outside San Salvador and a transition home in town, La Casa works to create a Christ-centered family environment of love and acceptance for children who are separated from their biological families. Many of these children benefit greatly from the counseling services provided by the La Casa staff.
While serving with La Casa, this journey team will:
- Educate, equip, and support the counseling staff, house parents, and children living in La Casa de mi Padre.
- Connect with La Casa’s foster families and play games with the children.
- Hike to nearby rural communities to deliver meals and other supplies.
While the primary goal of this journey focuses on counseling needs, just as important is the relational investment in the children and foster families you’ll meet. El Salvador is a beautiful land of volcanoes, waterfalls, and black sand beaches. Yet as the most densely populated country in Central America, cycles of broken families and extreme poverty are difficult to escape. Our mission is to support and encourage the local leaders who are caring for the country’s most vulnerable children.
This journey is a great fit for…
- Professionals with counseling experience (e.g. psychologists, social workers, and counselors)
- People with a heart for children and a sense of adventure.
- Adults who are physically able to complete a semi-strenuous hike.
- Those who understand relational investment as a valuable act of service.
- People with a heart for foster families and experience working in foster care.
If this is you, then get ready to support and connect with dozens of new friends during your week in El Salvador.
