2026 El Salvador - Equine

About the Journey

Take the reins (and pack your boots!) for a journey to El Salvador to provide hands-on help at the equine therapy program run by La Casa de mi Padre.

La Casa de mi Padre has three family homes on their La Finca property just outside San Salvador, where they work to create a Christ-centered family environment of love and acceptance for children who are separated from their biological families. 

As part of the physical, emotional, and educational support provided to children at La Casa, therapeutic riding is offered on-site. Young riders learn to care for, connect with, and control their horses while practicing life skills like recognizing emotions and showing responsibility. 

While serving at La Casa in El Salvador, this journey team will:

• Help with maintenance of the on-site riding rink.
• Build obstacles to be used during riding lessons.
• Facilitate a horse show and help around the barn.
• Hike to the surrounding villages to visit and deliver meals to local families.

There will be plenty of practical tasks to help with around the barn and riding rink, but the goal of this journey is relational investment in the children and foster families you’ll meet. Supporting the equine therapy program will be an opportunity to serve—and have fun!—in a setting you’ll never forget.

This journey is a great fit for:

• Animal lovers or anyone with prior experience riding or caring for horses (although not required).
• Team players with basic construction skills (or a willingness to learn).
• Adults who want to practice their Spanish, love cultural exchange, or relish learning about new places.
• Those who understand relational investment as a valuable act of service.

Before You Apply

• A $150 nonrefundable application fee is due at the time of application and will be applied to your fundraising goal.
