About the Journey
Through our partnership with Hope Partners, this global(x) family team will head to Costa Rica. This Central American country is a success story in terms of development, and its steady economic growth has helped it report the lowest poverty rates in Latin America. Still, there are areas of the country where families live in extreme poverty and have little opportunity, especially in the city of Pavas.
We’re looking to build an energetic team that is ready to engage with local children and families. Since Spanish is Costa Rica’s native language, Spanish speakers will be a huge asset to the team but it’s not a requirement, and translators will also be available. Serving this community will offer both physical projects and relational opportunities for all team members.
The team will be working on school and community improvement projects like painting, renovating, planting, cleaning, and organizing. You’ll have the opportunity to spend time with the school children and their teachers as the team leads fun activities like arts and crafts, sing-alongs, and interactive games.
Seeing the struggles and sharing the love of Jesus with the Costa Rican people is an eye-opening and humbling experience and one that you won’t soon forget. If you have a heart for children and are excited to engage and have fun with them, this is the journey for you!

Requirements
Prerequisites
- Application.
- All adults must agree to a background check.
- Valid Passport - Expiration date must be at least 6 months after your trip return date.
- All team members must agree to the terms of our releases, which are included in the journey application.
Restrictions
- Must be at least 10 years old.
- All team members must adhere to the global(x) COVID-19 protocols, which can be found on our website: https://www.globalx.org/covid19-protocols.
- All team members who are traveling to Costa Rica must provide proof of vaccination for COVID-19 (a positive antibody test will not be accepted) by the journey’s 50% fundraising milestone. Those who are unable to provide proof by this date will not be permitted to travel.
