2022 Mexico / Merida - Woodstock City InsideOut
About the Journey
In partnership with Sowing a Vision, this InsideOut student team will serve in Mérida, Mexico, located on the Yucatan Peninsula near the Gulf of Mexico. Considered one of the safest cities in Mexico, this vibrant city has a rich cultural and architectural history that includes ancient Mayan ruins and Spanish-built churches and mansions. In recent years, Mérida has experienced economic growth, but the disparity between the rich and the poor is still dramatic.
Sowing a Vision is an organization committed to meeting the needs of their local community through construction, kids’ camps, and much more. This student team will work alongside the local community on at least one large construction project, such as a church or community building. The team will help build roofs, floors, and courts, and paint auditoriums and multipurpose rooms. In Mérida, building construction requires the use of beams, sand, gravel, cement, and blocks. The team will need to lift beams and blocks, help prepare cement mix, and carry heavy buckets.
Relationally, the team will also have the opportunity to host Vacation Bible School for local children, play games, hold arts and crafts classes, sing songs, and have fun with the kids.

Students, if you are under the age of 18 and will be at the time of travel, you will need a parent present to help you complete the Releases portion of the application.

Requirements
Prerequisites
- Application.
- Valid Passport - Expiration date must be 6 months after trip return date.
- Tasks will be assigned if approved. Task completion is REQUIRED for travel.
Restrictions
- Students should be involved in InsideOut at Woodstock City Church.
- All team members must adhere to the global(x) COVID-19 protocols which can be found on our website: https://www.globalx.org/covid19-protocols
- All adults will need to submit to a Background Check.
- Team members who are 12 years and older and who are traveling internationally must provide proof of vaccination for COVID-19 OR proof of COVID-19 antibodies by the journey’s 50% fundraising milestone. Those who are unable to provide proof by this date will not be permitted to travel.
