About the Journey
Through our partnership with Openhouse, this global(x) team will head to Costa Rica. The Central American country is known for its biodiversity, beautiful beaches, volcanoes, and hot springs. In many aspects, Costa Rica is a success story in terms of development. It's considered an upper-middle-income country, and its steady economic growth has helped it report the lowest poverty rates in Latin America.
We’re looking to build an energetic team that is ready to engage with local children and families. Since Spanish is Costa Rica’s native language, Spanish speakers will be asset to the team, but it's not a requirement. Translators will also be available. Serving this community will offer both physical projects and relational opportunities for all team members.
You’ll fly from Atlanta to San Jose, Costa Rica. From your hotel, it’s about a 30-minute commute to the community in Pavas, where you’ll be spending the majority of your time.
The team will work on school and community improvement projects like painting, renovation, planting, cleaning, and organizing. You’ll have the opportunity to spend time with the school children and their teachers as you and your global(x) team lead fun activities like arts and crafts, sing-a-longs, and interactive games.

Requirements
Prerequisites
- Application.
- All adults will need to submit to a Background Check.
- Valid Passport - Expiration date must be 6 months after trip return date.
- All team members must agree to the terms of our Releases, which are a part of the trip application. Adults will also review the Code of Conduct which will be sent electronically to be signed.
Restrictions
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be involved in The Living Room at Woodstock City Church.
